NW Greenways
During 2019, all 3 Greenways routes were developed through the Route Selection
and Public Consultation processes. There was significant engagement from the communities and while preparations commenced for the EIAR publication for Route 1 (Buncrana-Derry), both Route 2 (Muff) and Route 3 (Lifford) progressed through the Part 8 planning approval process in early in 2019 followed by detailed design and land purchase to facilitate construction of these two routes in 2020.
Machinery Yard & Stores
General Stores
The Stores team continued on its programme of improvement and the provision of a
cost effective service to its customers and continues to utilise the national framework agreements for the supply of a wide variety of products to ensure the best value for money for the Council.
It procured and delivered to site 6.5 million litres of bitumen during 2019 for use in the maintenance of the road network.
Machinery Yard
During 2019 the Machinery Yard continued to provide a fit for purpose fleet of both owned and hired vehicles to the Councils Roads area team, the Housing Services team and Irish Water, facilitating the ongoing maintenance, repair and operation of the Council’s assets.
Progress is also continuing on the Machinery Yard refurbishment project with works complete on site for phase 1 in September 2019, and a full electrical upgrade works contract being undertaken throughout the facility.
Capital Plant Replacement/Refurbishment
The following items of new plant were purchased in 2019:
· 4 no. new 26t (6x4)Tipper lorries
· 2 no. Trailer Mounted Bitmac Hotboxes
Salt Management
12,267 tonnes of salt was managed through the TII Salt Management System and delivered to depots around the county to facilitate the delivery of the winter service plan.
