Road Strengthening - Letterkenny MD
Road Strengthening
Approx €14.5m was spent on the Road Strengthening programme during 2019 and that allowed for the strengthening of 182 km of roads through 228 separate projects. This work is primarily funded through the Department
of Transport, Tourism and Sport (DTTaS). 3 separate road strengthening projects were also completed on our offshore Islands funded by Roinn na Gaeltachta.
Road Resurfacing
Approx €3.7m of DTTaS funding was spent on the Road Resurfacing programme during 2019 and allowed for 168 km of roads to be resurfaced through 170 individual projects.
Road Drainage Improvements
Grant funding of €1.35m was provided by DTTaS in 2019 for works to alleviate road drainage problems either through new works or remedial works. 75 separate drainage improvement projects were completed across the county with this funding.
Community Improvement Schemes
DTTaS reintroduced Community Involvement Schemes in 2018 and funding of €1.416m provided in 2019 under this programme allowed for the improvement of 24km of public roads through 41 separate projects.
