Donegal National Roads Office
TII support and funding on National Roads to Donegal and the Northwest Region continues to remain strong. Expenditure on National Roads projects managed by Donegal National Roads Office will exceed €29m with over 59 individual projects being progressed in 2019.
As well as planning, design and delivery
on the ground the National Roads Office continues to keep up to date and informed about environmental, economic and social changes as influencing factors of strategic relevance. They aid in the early identification, consideration and assessment of risks and opportunities.
Ten-T Priority Improvement Project Donegal
This remains the single biggest and most important infrastructure project in the county. The project aims to significantly improve three major sections of national road.
The project remains on program. In 2019 work included advancement of the design and appraisal processes and significant public consultation and workshops in relation to the selection of route corridors. In 2020 on site investigations, preliminary design
and environmental impact assessments
will progress. Donegal County Council in cooperation with TII and DTTaS successfully secured EU funding through the Connecting Europe Facility CEF - 2019 Transport Call for the TEN-T Priority Route Improvement Project, Donegal. This is a significant success for Donegal County Council. The funding of €4.335m was the 6th largest
across the entire Eurozone for this CEF call off.
