Donegal County Museum
The Museum worked with the National Museum of Ireland to display the Tullydonnell Lower Gold Hoard for two weeks in November. 3,300 people visited the exhibition. The display was part-funded by the Creative Ireland programme and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
A new multi-functional space opened in the Museum part funded through the Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018 under the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
An events programme was organised throughout the year and included; CINE project interactive digital workshops; children’s archaeology, drama and art workshops; archaeology talks; seminars; the launch of the reprinted County Donegal Book of Honour; exhibitions including “100 years of Women in Politics and Public Life 1918 - 2018”; Dónal Mac Polin’s “Traditional Boats of Ireland” in association with the Archives Service ;“50 years of the Letterkenny Folk Festival”; reminiscence sessions with older people and genealogy workshops.
