The nominations for this year’s Donegal Sport Star Awards opens today and Donegal County Council is once again the main sponsor of this year’s awards.
Cathaoirleach Cllr. Terence Slowey is encouraging sporting clubs, groups and organisation including schools to put forward their nominations for this year’s awards.
“Donegal is a sporting county, it is very much part of the fabric of our communities. The Donegal Sports Star Awards are among the most prestigious sporting awards in the country and we in Donegal County Council are delighted to be the long time sponsors of these awards”.
“I think it is only right that our sporting greats are recognised for their formidable contribution to life in our county and I would encourage clubs and schools across Donegal to get their nominations in. It is a great way to showcase the brilliant work being done at local level while also paying tribute to the remarkable achievements of our sports people”.
Nominations for the 41st Donegal Sports Star Awards opens today, Monday 24th October. Nominations can be done online and emailed to [email protected] or by completing a simple nomination form, which can be downloaded and posted to Paul McDaid, Post Office, Ramelton.
A brief summary only of achievements will suffice. Pictorial and DVD footage is also required. For further details visit www.donegalsportsstarawards.ie.
The Hall of Fame winner will be chosen by the committee therefore no nominations will be accepted in this category. The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 25th. The Donegal Sports Star Awards presentation function takes place on Friday, January 27th in the Mount Errigal Hotel.
