Energy Management
In August 2019 Donegal County Council successfully retained their ISO 50001 Energy Management System accreditation following a three day audit carried out by Certification Europe.
During 2019, Donegal County Council successfully completed four energy projects under the Sustainable Energy Authority of Irelands Better Energy Communities scheme. These energy efficient projects included the installation of photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charge points, lighting upgrades to LED and energy efficient radiator upgrades across various office locations.
As part of the Council’s overall drive to achieve energy performance improvements throughout all Council premises, energy efficient works to the County House were also conducted in 2019. 36 Solar Photovoltaic panels were installed to the roof of the County House. This solar PV system will generate approximately 8,350 kilo Watt hours (kWh) of electricity per annum and assist the Council in achieving national targets of reducing carbon emissions by 30% and improving energy efficiency by 50% by 2030.
