Water Services Capital Overview
A new Water Treatment Plant was commissioned in Kildarragh, Creeslough to supply the Creeslough and Dunfanaghy areas. Works were ongoing at a new water treatment plant for the Letterkenny region and a major water treatment plant refurbishment was ongoing at Crolly for the Rosses region.
Approximately 50km of new water main was installed over the course of the year to replace existing pipelines which were contributing to high burst frequencies or water quality problems or also to link supply areas. This included approximately 10km of pipeline which was completed as part of the Coolboy to Kilmacrennan road realignment project.
Significant wastewater network upgrade works were completed in many areas of Letterkenny during 2019 including many areas with high traffic volumes. Working with local stakeholders and the Garda Síochana traffic management issues were addressed proactively.
Detailed design and planning continued on a number of major and minor projects in water and wastewater areas which should progress to construction stage in 2020 and 2021.
