Burtonport Railway Walk
Public Park, Stranorlar
In March 2019, Part 8 planning approval was obtained for the development of a public park comprising play areas, public conveniences and walking trails in Drumboe, Stranorlar. The Council are progressing with the acquisition of these lands in order to be in a position to submit a ‘shovel-ready’ project when further national funding calls are announced.
Fáilte Ireland Initiatives
Fáilte Ireland launched its ‘Platforms for Growth Investment Programme’ in May 2019. All five projects submitted by the Council were selected to progress to Stage 2 of the process:
:: Fort Dunree;
:: Rathmullan, ‘The Battery’;
:: Ballyshannon Workhouse;
:: Glenties, ‘The Laurels’;
:: Letterkenny Courthouse.
Fáilte Ireland launched its national ‘Developed and Emerging Tourism Destinations Investment Scheme’ in March 2019. The Council has submitted an application seeking funding of €500k for a project in Bundoran.
Ferry Services
In 2019 the Council made financial contributions towards the operation of two ferry services namely Greencastle-Magilligan (Foyle Ferry) and Buncrana-Rathmullan (Swilly Ferry).
