‘Our coastline is one of our greatest assets’ says Scottish Marine Tourism Expert

Marine Tourism Seminar

‘Our coastline is one of our greatest assets’ says Alan Rankin from Ciogach Consulting in Scotland who spoke at today's Marine Tourism Seminar, and with over 1400km of coastline in Donegal we certainly have a treasure on our doorstep.

From looking at how businesses can use technology to reach out and promote their product offerings, to hearing about Scotland's story on how they ‘Awakened the Giant’ to make the most of their 8,000 km of coastline, to exploring funding opportunities, to hearing about all the exciting things that are happening in Donegal, today's seminar provided plenty of food for thought for those attending.

Hosted by Donegal County Council in association with Donegal Tourism Ltd the seminar featured a number of high profile keynote speakers from the sector.  Dr. Peter Bolan from the University of Ulster talked about harnessing the power of digital for your marine tourism business and Alan Rankin from Ciogach Consulting presented on the Scottish marine tourism strategy ‘Awakening the Giant.

Other speakers included Olivia Crossan from An Taisce’s Clean Coast initiative, Joy Harron, Marine Tourism Officer with Donegal Tourism, Trevor Scanlon from Donegal County Council and Adrian Harkin from Inish Adventures.  An interesting Q&A session took place at the end of the seminar and this provided attendees with the opportunity to discuss topics in greater detail with the expert panel of speakers.
