Buying your Council House

2016 Tenant (Incremental) Purchase Scheme

If you are a tenant of a Council owned house, you may be eligible to purchase your house under the 2016 Tenant (Incremental) Purchase Scheme.

Please note that not all Council owned houses are available for purchase, so you should first check with your local Housing Office to see if your house is eligible for purchase under the scheme.

There are a number of eligibility criteria that you must meet in order to qualify to purchase your house under the scheme, including:

  • you must be in receipt of social housing support for a consecutive period of at least 10 years (in the case of joint tenancies, only one tenant must be in receipt of social housing supports for 10 years)

  • you must have an annual income of at least €11,000.

Full details and conditions of the scheme are included of the Tenant Information Handbook and the guidance notes contained in the application form.
