Apply for Council/Social Housing
Am I eligible for Council Housing/Social Housing Support?
You can apply for Council Housing, and other Social Housing supports, if -
- you are in genuine need of housing and be unable to provide accommodation from your own resources, and
- you have a legal right to remain in the State on a long-term basis, and
- you are 18 years of age or older, and
- your net income is below the thresholds below:
Single Adult | €30,000 |
2 Adults | €31,500 |
1 Adult 1 Child | €30,750 |
1 Adult 2 Children | €31,500 |
2 Adults 1 Child | €32,250 |
2 Adults 3 Children | €33,750 |
3 Adults 4 Children | €36,000 |
How are applications assessed?
The assessment will be based on the information you submit on your application form and supporting documents. In assessing your application, the Council will consider such factors as:
- household size
- household income
- your current accommodation (if any) and its condition
- any special circumstances including age, disability, medical needs
- any other relevant matters.
How do I apply for Social Housing Support?
You must complete the Social Housing Application Form (below) in either English or Irish. The form cannot be completed and submitted on-line.
The Application Form must be submitted together with all required supporting documentation set out on the page entitled “Checklist”. If any of the supporting documentation is missing, or the Application Form is incomplete, your housing application will be deemed invalid and will be returned to you.
