Fire Service Operations
Donegal County Council provides a fire service from 16 fire stations which are strategically located throughout the county. In Donegal, all stations are operated on a retained basis. This means that when an emergency response is required, fire crews are alerted, and they proceed to the station to mobilise to incidents.
More than 150 trained firefighters, who are members of the local communities they serve, are on call to respond to a variety of emergencies. These include domestic and commercial fires, road traffic accidents, gorse fires, chemical incidents, and other hazardous situations within the county. Donegal County Fire Service responds to approximately 1,000 emergency calls each year.
