District and Circuit Court Licensing
Donegal Fire Authority is deemed to be a notice party to certain licence applications as set out in the Fire Services Acts 1981 & 2003 and consequently receives notice of such applications. The Court Service of Ireland has established an application process which allows legal practitioners to submit online applications and is available at eLicensing | The Courts Service of Ireland. Where the Fire Authority is deemed to be a notice party it will receive electronic notification of such applications.
Circuit Court licensing involves applications for new licences, revival of licences which have not been renewed, enlargement / reduction of existing licensed areas, declarations and certificates. More information is contained on Circuit Court Licensing | The Courts Service of Ireland
Where the Fire Authority is a notice party to an application, it shall carry out an inspection of the premises that would include an assessment of the means of escape provisions, wall and ceiling linings and enclosures of any areas of special fire risk and review the fire safety management provisions thereon. The applicant will be requested to have test certificates/reports that includes the following, as appropriate, ready for inspection:
- Electrical Installation.
- Emergency lighting system.
- Fire detection and alarm system.
- Fire extinguishers.
- Gas installation.
- Oil Boiler.
- Kitchen Suppression System.
The Fire Authority will advise the Court as to the suitability of the premises being licenced with regards to fire safety provisions within the building and management duties being undertaken.
