SECURE or Smarter Energy Communities in Northern & Arctic Regions is an innovation project launched on May 2016, with the support of the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme 2014-2020.
The ERNACT network of regions is the lead partner of the project and it works together with Donegal and Leitrim regions (Ireland), Derry City & Strabane (UK), Nova Scotia (Canada), Faroe Islands, North Karelia (Finland) and Västernorrland County (Sweden) to develop smarter communities.
The objective
SECURE has a budget of €1,842,591 and a duration of three years. It aims to transfer & implement innovative energy solutions for housing & public infrastructure across the Northern Periphery and Arctic regions.
For example, the partners involved are already using transnational cooperation between higher and lower maturity regions to increase awareness of the technologies (including ICTs) and solutions for energy efficiency and renewables.
