Donegal County Council Annual Report 2019
Local Elections took place in May 2019 which saw 37 members across 7 Local Electoral Areas elected to Donegal County Council for a 5 year term. The new Council convened for its first meeting in June 2019. Sadly, less than a month later, one of our new members Manus “Mandy” Kelly tragically lost his life while competing in the Donegal International Rally. It is particularly sad for Manus and his family that he did not get the opportunity to represent the people of the Letterkenny/Milford Municipal District. In November, 2019 Manus’s father Donal was unanimously co-opted onto the Council.
The above is a brief synopsis of many of the major developments which progressed in the County in 2019. The Report details many more important activities and projects which are ongoing across our various work areas.
Much of our work is dependent on the support of other organisations and agencies. Their positive collaborations and contributions assist the Council to bring about the many changes and improvements to our services to enhance the quality of life for those who live in and visit our County.
We would like to thank the elected members, management and staff of the Council for their continued commitment and dedication that they show on a daily basis as we continue to play an important role in the development of our County.
