Glenties MD Cathaoirleach welcomes Exchange Students to Dungloe

Student Exchange visit to Dungloe

Cathaoirleach of Glenties Municipal District Cllr Micheál Mac Giolla Easbuig and Eamonn Brown welcoming Tofol Massanet and Pere Riutort and students from Sant Salvador School in Artà (Mallorca) in the presence of Joe Kelly and Nuria Aguiló and students from Pobalscoil na Rossan

Cathaoirleach of Glenties Municipal District Cllr Micheál Cholm MacGiollaEasbuig officially welcomed teachers, parents and students from Sant Salvador School in the village of Artà (Mallorca) to the Donegal County Council offices in Dungloe on Monday.

These teachers, parents and students are visiting Pobalscoil na Rosann as part of an exchange programme and earlier this year students and teachers from Pobalscoil na Rosann visited Artá.

“We are hoping to participate in the ERASMUS 2018-2020 exchange programme where 35 students from each school will have the opportunity to travel and learn from 5 different countries, regardless their economic background” says Nuria Aguiló, Spanish teacher at Pobalscoil na Rosann.

“This visit has been organised privately by both schools but it certainly gives us a good taste of what is to come with the ERASMUS programme. We spent a week in Artà in May, where 10 local families took care of our kids. These same partners are those who are visiting Dungloe now”.

Cllr Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig was delighted to be in a position to officially welcome these teachers and students from Sant Salvador School to the Councils offices in Dungloe.  The Cathaoirleach and Area Manager Eamonn Brown introduced the guests to the workings of local government in Ireland.

Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig talked about why he became a councillor, his political motivations and about the importance of international exchange programmes such as this programme.
