Cllr. Rena Donaghey, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council who will be officially launching the brand with Minister Charlie McConalogue during a special online event on Friday is delighted to have these ambassadors on board saying “this line-up of Donegal ambassadors helps reflect the essence of what Donegal has to offer’’.

‘’Killian’s story of determination and tenacity against huge adversity to achieve a lifelong ambition in the setting up of the Wild Ireland Animal Sanctuary is in itself inspirational.  And then Ciaran and Charlene’s story of how a small tech start-up became one of the biggest FinTech businesses in Ireland helping position Donegal as a centre for growth in ICT FinTech’’.

“We will also have Rosy Temple who is the fifth generation of entrepreneurs with Magee1866, a brand that is synonymous with Donegal and her story of resilience in sustaining a competitive edge while remaining true to their authentic brand rooted in Donegal has a lesson for us all’’.

“And finally Paul Hannigan, President of Letterkenny Institute of Technology, an institute that has been at home in Donegal for 50 years and which continues to pivot and adapt in an increasingly changing environment and which is central to the development of our talented workforce”.

The new Donegal place brand, which is an initiative of Donegal County Councils new Economic Development Division, will position the county as a great place to live, work, invest, explore and study.  The brand has been developed by international place brand specialists OCO Global and Chief Executive Mark O’Connell will provide an insight on the importance of place branding for places like Donegal especially in the current climate where the growing trend in remote working presents opportunities for locations like Donegal where the superb quality of life offering is a key attractor for those looking for an alternative from city living.

The launch will take place online on Friday 30 April at 3pm and is being compèred by Donal Kavanagh of Highland Radio. It will also include the launch of the new donegal.ie website which will be the home for the place brand and where all relevant information relating to the new brand will be available.
