R267 Donegal Town Public Service Centre Junction

It is proposed to introduce a traffic signal control system on the junction of the R267 / Donegal Town Public Service Centre/ So-Lo Shop Road, Donegal Town to enhanced safety, functionality and connectivity for pedestrians and vehicles and to facilitate an increase in traffic volumes and provide additional capacity to meet the full development aspirations for Donegal Town.


The project will be carried out in accordance with the drawings associated with this application and will include:

  • Provision of new signalised junction in accordance with the drawings provided.
  • Upgrade of footpath as appropriate to facilitate pedestrian crossings,
  • Realignment of junction radii as appropriate,
  • New road markings, signage, drainage works, landscaping, and accommodation works.
  • The project will be carried out in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994.

Donegal Town One-Way System

It is proposed to introduce a One-Way System onto Tirchonaill Street, Castle Street, Water Street and New Row within Donegal Town to improve traffic flow, safety for pedestrians and vulnerable road users and also to create additional on-street parking.


The project will include:

  • Designate Tirchonaill Street one-way from the junction with New Row to the Bridge Street junction with traffic flowing towards The Diamond.
  • Designate Castle Street one-way with traffic flowing from Water Street towards Tirchonaill Street.
  • Designate Water Street one-way with traffic flowing from Main Street towards New Row.
  • Designate New Row from Water Street Bridge to the junction with Tirchonaill Street one-way with traffic flowing from Water Street Bridge towards Tirchonaill Street.
  • Provision for a mini roundabout at New Row/Tirchonail Street/ Drumrooske Road Junction.
  • Provision of additional on street parking on Tirchonaill Street, Water Street & New Row.
  • New public street lighting on Tirchonaill Street between Castle Street and Bridge Street.
  • New road markings, signage, drainage works, landscaping, and accommodation works.
  • New road layout with kerbing for new footpaths to be built in accordance with DMURS & TII Standards.
  • The one-way systems will be carried out in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994.

Letterkenny Traffic Management Project

It is proposed to provide a traffic management system on the Polestar roundabout and adjacent junctions (Ballyraine roundabout, Creamery roundabout, LYIT Junction & Joe Bonnar Junctions) on the road network comprising of sections of: N56, R940, R229, R250 (Neil T Blaney Road) & N14 in accordance with the drawings associated with this application.

 

The project will include:

  • Partial road & footway construction.
  • Provision of new signalised junctions in accordance with the drawings provided.
  • New road markings, signage, drainage works, landscaping, and accommodation works.

R263 Fintra Bridge and Road Realignment

Donegal County Council proposes to upgrade the existing R263 in the townland of Fintragh within the Donegal Municipal District. The project proposes the provision of a new road commencing at the roundabout on the Western end of the Killybegs Relief Road and extending approximately 1.4km to the West. The proposed road will provide an improved alignment, cross section and provision for pedestrians and cyclists. The proposals include a new bridge to cross the Fintra River.


The project will include:

  • A new bridge crossing of the Fintra River on the realigned R263.
  • The realignment of approximately 1.4km of road infrastructure and cross-sectional improvements.
  • A new 1.9km pedestrian and cycle route between the Killybegs Relief Road and access to Fintra Beach.

Millbrae Footpath

Donegal County Council proposes to construct a footpath at Millbrae to enhance safety, functionality and connectivity for pedestrians and vulnerable road users in the area and provide additional capacity to meet the full development aspirations for Stranorlar.

 

The project will include:

  • A new 3m wide footpath on the eastern side of Millbrae from the N15 junction at Mc Clays Corner to Finn Valley A.C
  • Provision of a new uncontrolled crossing on Millbrae at the N15 Junction at Mc Clays Corner
  • Provision of a controlled crossing on Millbrae at the Finn Valley A.C
  • Upgrades to existing uncontrolled crossings at Ard McCool and Railway Road Junctions
  • Realignment of Junction radii as appropriate
  • New road markings, signage, drainage works, landscaping and accommodation works
  • New public street lighting on Millbrae
  • New road alignment in order to standardise parallel parking at Millbrae Terrace
