Biodiversity Awareness Grant Scheme

The Biodiversity Policy Unit of the National Parks & Wildlife Service administers the Biodiversity Awareness Grant Scheme which was established to support initiatives, projects and targeted public awareness campaigns that enhance awareness of Irish biodiversity and ecosystem services. It aims to increase awareness of the underlying threats to biodiversity, emphasise the benefits of the conservation of biodiversity as well as highlighting issues such as the economic costs of failing to adequately conserve it. It also endeavours to demonstrate the essential links between biodiversity, food production, nutrition and health. Targeted audiences include schools, the general public, local communities, third-level students, key economic sectors and scientific communities. Project costs will generally not exceed €5,000 but larger projects will be considered on merit. 100% funding is available.
